Helping people navigate separation with the right professional support around them
A professional resource hub
Separation rarely sits in one box
A person navigating separation may also be an employee, a parent, a client of a solicitor, a mortgage holder, a pension holder, a business owner or someone trying to make important decisions while under emotional strain.
The Separation Specialist provides counselling or mediation support within this wider context. The aim is not to replace legal, financial, HR or other professional advice, but to help people access and use the right support at the right time.
Professional routes into separation support
Different professionals encounter separation in different ways. The routes below explain how specialist support may sit alongside your role.

Mediation Alongside Professional Advice
Clear boundaries, confident relationships
The Separation Specialist provides either individual counselling or couples mediation, but not both to the same client or couple.
The service does not provide legal, financial, tax, pension, mortgage, accountancy or HR advice. Where such advice is needed, clients are encouraged to seek support from the appropriate professional.
In mediation, impartiality is central. In counselling, confidentiality is central. Clear boundaries protect the client, the process and the professionals involved.

The right professional support around them
Separation often requires more than one form of support. A person or couple may need emotional support, structured conversation, legal advice, financial planning, pension input, mortgage advice, tax guidance or workplace support.
Where appropriate, mediation clients are encouraged to make full and proper use of relevant professional advice alongside mediation. This helps ensure that any proposals reached are informed, realistic and capable of being reviewed or formalised by the appropriate professionals where required.
The aim is not to bypass professional advice
The aim is to help clients access and use professional advice well and at the right time.
Mediation can provide the structured conversation, explore options and build agreements in real time.
Solicitors, financial advisers and other professionals provide advice within their own area of expertise, helping ensure that decisions are properly informed, realistic in practice and capable of being reviewed, refined or formalised where required.
